We sold the boat

Randy beside Tesoro

After a FANTASTIC summer sailing aboard Tesoro, we sold her in September.  I know many people are shocked, but it was time.  We sailed somewhere around 40 times, with probably over 150 people enjoying the time with us.  Thank you to all who shared our adventures aboard that wonderful sailboat.

Summer was awesome!

We had many outings on Tesoro (somewhere around 40).  We haven’t even counted how many people we were able to share
it with, but it would be a big number.

Jankel, Venita, Tyler and Tanner spent about 10 days with us.  We had so much fun, including:

  • Bicycling from Orting to South Prairie
  • Seattle, including Pacific Science Center and a Mariners game
  • Ladies and kids to the zoo; Men golfing
  • Visiting Kyle’s “office” and getting a close up tour of the C-17
  • 3rd of July at Susie’s in Poulsbo, including fireworks
  • 4th of July on Tesoro all day, including air show, sailing, sightseeing and fireworks
  • Tall Ships Festival in Tacoma
  • Averill family reunion at Julie’s was fantastic.  So many family members that we don’t see often enough.
  • Reunion of so many friends from Edgewood Community Church.
  • Quick visit with Mike and Sandi, including a fun trip to Mount Rainier.

Foster Parents

We have our license as Foster Parents, but have decided not to take any placements immediately.  With Sary-Jo’s employment change, we’ll take kids for short-term only – at least during this school year.  However, we are asking God’s guidance regarding future decisions, including possible adoption.

Sary-Jo’s job

With market difficulties at Weyerhaeuser, Sary-Jo took on additional hours this year.  It’s a good financial decision and she is adapting well.  However, we liked it better when she didn’t work so much.
