Following a very fun and successful season, David’s team (Rockets) had a team party at Dairy Queen. We captured a little video of the coach saying nice things about our little star, and we took a few pictures. Enjoy.
Daniel’s Toys
Daniel strapped his video “spy watch” onto his remote-controlled car and took it for a spin around the neighborhood. Meanwhile, David was on skates with his hockey stick. Enjoy.
Globetrotters
We were able to see the Globetrotters play in Kent. After 85 years, they still know how to entertain. Daniel and David enjoyed the show and got some autographs after the game. This basketball was autographed and went on the shelf; they have others to play with. Note: this is the only picture; don’t try clicking on it trying to see more.
Medicine
Both Daniel and David are healthy boys, but growing up in Ethiopia carries medical risks. They both required a long regimen of anti-biotics, which Daniel started immediately upon arrival in the family. We didn’t know David would require the same thing until he had been with us for a few months. Consequently, it was kind of a big deal when he finally finished his medication. Here’s a brief video of him taking his last dose.
Columbia Plateau
Daniel researched the Columbia Plateau for a school report. He learned quite a bit about Washington State and did a great job on the report. Here’s a video of his practice run.
Science Fair 2011
Daniel participated in the school district’s Science Fair this year. He studied how the volume of liquid in a bottle changes the pitch of the tone generated by blowing over the bottle’s opening. It fit well with his interest in music and in science. He learned to journal his work, measure sound frequencies using a computer, and chart his work. It was a great experience!
We took a few pictures. Click the picture shown to see more.
And enjoy a five minute video of his practice presentation.
Letter From Cinderella
Daniel & David received a very special letter, direct from the Magic Kingdom. Cinderella sent an invitation to dine with her and some of her friends for breakfast when we are at Disneyland this summer. Enjoy the video of Sary-Jo helping the boys read and process this.
Christmas at Julie’s
Christmas Day 2010
Well, we’re a little slow posting, but here are pictures from Christmas Day. The boys were up early (not surprising) and they waited patiently until the rest of the family was ready. As you look at the pictures, you might detect a Disney theme. Click the picture to see more.
You can see on the video that they just didn’t “get it” as they opened the gift revealing we’re going to Disneyland. We had them read, repeatedly, the shirt that says, “I’m going to the Disneyland Resort” but they just didn’t catch on that it means THEY are going to Disneyland! We’ve talked about Disneyland for more than a year, so they know what it is. You can also hear Kyle – Sarah’s laptop was in the room with us and Kyle was on Skype.
And here is the video:
Christmas Eve 2010
We went to Margie’s and Ruli’s for Christmas Eve. Ken and Betty were visiting from Arizona; Sarah and Diana were here from South Carolina. And of course, there was much more good food than necessary!
