On Saturday, our great friends the Beards came to visit. We are truly blessed every time we get together and this was no exception. We enjoyed talking about raising boys, how God is using them in their ministry, and and just life in general. We were not able to get together over Christmas so this visit was long overdue. Our boys enjoyed playing together, including some time spent on the Wii. Here are a few pictures of the kids.

Washington Wedding Reception
On October 15, we had the privilege of hosting a reception for Janel and Ryan. It was fun to dress up again, and very special to meet with so many friends and family who came to celebrate with us and to congratulate the newlyweds. Heartfelt thanks to those who gave their time and talents to make this a memorable occasion. As you can imagine, it took hours to transform the facility into a “park,” prepare the food, take care of dozens of details, and then clean it all up at the end of the evening. The food, flowers, cupcakes, shrubbery – all were exquisite! Click the first picture to see more pictures of the reception.

NOTE: Some very kind soul(s) left birthday gifts for the boys – two large boxes of Legos / no card. Unfortunately, parenting at this advanced age has had a serious effect on the memory and mom cannot remember who it was. The boys would love to send a personal thank you. Ryan & Janel
It’s been a while since Janel & Ryan married (July 31) and we mentioned how much fun we had, but we didn’t include a lot of pictures from the reception. Well, now we’ll post some of these pictures. We had an amazing time at this reception. And by “we” I think it’s safe to say we mean all in attendance. For those of you who were there, these pictures will bring back memories of a great time. It’s taken us a while to sort through and whittle down the photos, but here is a pretty good set to look at. Clicking the photo will take you to the “gallery” where you can page through (24 pages, I think) and look at any of the pictures. We’ve included about 10% of the pictures we have and we think they represent this wonderful wedding well.
Quick Visit
Janel and Ryan came up for a very brief visit so they could attend a friend’s wedding. It was great to see them and, almost as important, they brought the photographer’s pictures – the full set on three DVD’s. So… hang in there and we’ll sort through them (all 1,821 of them) and put a set of the best on the website before long.
Rehearsal Dinner

We’re working our way through the pictures from our trip to California for Janel and Ryan’s wedding. We’ll post pictures as we get them ready to show. This first set is from the rehearsal dinner, which was fantastic! We were blessed with good company and great food. Janel and Ryan have a great group of friends. We also enjoyed spending some time (although not enough) with Ryan’s parents.

Wedding Trip
We’ll be posting more about Janel and Ryan’s wedding after we’ve had some time to sort through the pictures and video, but we thought we should say a couple things here.
To start… it was FABULOUS!!! Janel and Ryan did a terrific job of planning it out. Their friends and supporters were amazing in all their help. Virtually everyone involved, including photographer, pastor, hairstylist, cake maker, etc., etc., was a friend of the bride and groom. Janel was a beautiful bride and the entire wedding party looked great. The reception was one of the best parties around and the food was delicious.
Our trip was great and the boys were fantastic. They enjoyed the reunion with Tyler and Tanner, as well as meeting Jake & Brady, Sary-Jo’s mom, and many others. We had been concerned about how they would react to the chaos that is inevitable, but they handled it with tremendous grace. They were poised for photos and well-behaved the entire time.

Christmas at Margies – another take on the party!
When we arrived at Margie’s house for a Christmas celebration, Sarah answered the door and was a bit surprised to see Ryan tagging along with Janel. It was actually a bit comical to see her at a loss for words (or at least at a loss for variety in her words).
Janel is Engaged!
On December 24, Ryan surprised Janel in a big way – he flew to Washington to propose to her!!! She thought he was going to be with his paren
ts in California. We had to get Janel down to the waterfront in Tacoma where Ryan was waiting for her. We all kept the secret so well that Janel was completely surprised. After the proposal was made – and accepted – we had a toast and took a few pictures to mark the occasion.
We thoroughly enjoyed their short stay up here and are anxious to begin planning the big event.
